gemma (there's no time to rush)

120film + Yashica TLR

In 2018, an older family friend was cleaning out her home. She had kept her husband's entire collection of analog cameras despite his passing more than a decade prior. George was a career Navy officer, whose work had taken them---and his many cameras---all over the globe. I was in shock as well as in gratitude that Helen invited me to have as many of his well-loved cameras as I pleased. The series, gemma (there's no time to rush), was produced with my newly acquired Yashica TLR from George's collection. I named the Yashica "Gemma" after a dear friend and yoga instructor who serves as an inspiration for the measured patience that is required to create analog photographs.
